My new book, The Rabbi’s Atheist Daughter: Ernestine Rose, International Feminist Pioneer, published by Oxford University Press, is the fourth I've written in women’s history. The three others are listed and available for purchase in the Other Books section of this site. One of the pioneers of the field, I taught history and women’s studies at Brooklyn College and the Graduate Center of the City University of New York for over thirty years.
I give speeches on Rose, women’s movements, international feminism, the history of sexuality, and women’s issues today. In recent years, I've lectured in the U.S., France, and Germany. Like my subjects, I combine writing with activism. I worked as a rape crisis volunteer, to elect Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, and to support public education and women’s rights. More...
